Cyclists from Canada, the USA, Australia and the UK joined Israeli disabled veterans and members of Israel’s national cycling team on a five-day magical adventure, Oct. 20-24, 2013. The journey began near Ashkelon and continued through the lush green hills of Jerusalem to spectacular views of the Mitzpe Ramon Crater and the rugged beauty of the Dead Sea.
Oren Blitzblau – Athlete of the Week
He lost his eyesight when a suicide bomber blew himself up in 2005, but nothing will stop Oren Blitzblau on the way to his dream – the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Paralympic Games. Together with Iron Man Gilad Rotem, Blitzblau plans to compete in the forthcoming ‘2014 Israman’ competition, but he looks ahead at the future challenges.
Scholarship award ceremonies
The Scholarship award ceremonies are taking place this month at all ZDVO's districts. We are pleased to announce that this year we were able to distribute 471 scholarships for a total amount of 2,769,100 NIS.The scholarships are awarded individually and bear the name of the donor or the designated name of a loved one according to the donor's wishes.
Beit Halochem UK Hold Successful Annual Gala Dinner
On Wednesday October 16th Beit Halochem UK held its annual Fundraising Dinner in the magnificent setting of The Dorchester hotel in Central London raising in excess of £500,000. Joint Dinner Chair, Susan Kahn announced with pride at how many lives this unique organisation has helped, since the creation of The State. During her opening speech, she introduced, one of Israel’s greatest heroes, Paralympic gold medalist, Noam Gershony.
First Ever Bike Ride Organized by ZDVO in Sydney
When Alan Wahlhaus first rode in the Courage in Motion Bike Ride in Israel in 2012, he was very impacted and moved by the experience. A cycling aficionado, he was introduced to the cause of the Zahal Disabled Veterans Organization through ZDVO in Australia and its President, Michael Balkin who suggested he participate in the annual bike ride initiated by Beit Halochem Canada for the past six years.
Gold Medal at Continents Cup 2013 for ZDVO member
Wheelchair dancer Nahum (Humi) Prital, member of the Zahal Disabled Veterans Organization and his dance partner Gal Cucuy (who has been dancing with Humi as a volunteer for several years), recently won the Gold Medal at the 2013 Continents Cup which took place in Moscow last week.

Attorney Guidy Maman hosted in his home one of the members of Beit Halochem, as well as the get familiar meeting of the delegation that arrived from Israel. 'It is impossible to measure what these soldiers do for us', he explains.

3 Beit Halochem Members Took Part in the Kineret Triathlon.Beit Halochem Haifa’s wheelchair basketball team won the 2012/13 National Championship. Jerusalem’s Beit Halochem now boasts a wheelchair dancing course. Beit Halochem Beersheva’s Billiard Team came in fourth place .

Izzy Ezagui, an American-born Israeli soldier wounded in 2008 while on active duty, shared his story with a group of friends of FIDV in Boca Raton on March 31, 2013. Ezagui as a young adult determined to make Aliyah, and to do something important by protecting Israel.
