Friends of Israel Disabled Veterans held a series of outreach events in South Florida from December 17 \u2013 19, 2014. We made many friends and spread the word about Beit Halochem\u2019s four rehabilitation centers in Israel, which are crucial to helping disabled Israeli veterans heal and begin life anew.<\/p>\n
FIDV brought distinguished guest speaker Micha Koubi to all three events. Koubi\u2019s background includes work in the Special Operations Unit, Prime Minister\u2019s Office, Israel, Chief Interrogator of Sheikh Ahmed Yassin and other arch-terrorists of the Hamas and Islamic Jihad Movements. Koubi\u2019s presence and life experience energized the guests, many of whom we hope to have as new friends.<\/p>\n
Micha Koubi spoke after presentation of a short introductory FIDV-Beit Halochem video entitled \u201cBeit Halochem Tel Aviv Welcomes Soldiers Wounded in Operation Protective Edge.\u201d<\/p>\n
The events kicked off with a Hanukkah celebration at Aventura Turnberry Jewish Center (ATJC), co-hosted by Riviera Parliament Young Men, Israeli Young Parliament, The Professional Fame Club, and Women\u2019s Forum. Over 200 people attended, and lit the second Hanukkah candle before learning about FIDV-Beit Halochem. Noted Israeli singer Shalva Berti provided festive musical entertainment.<\/p>\n
On December 18, Marc and Marina Itzkowitch hosted 70 guests at their Sunny Isles Beach condominium social hall to meet Micha Koubi and learn more about veterans helped by FIDV-Beit Halochem. Guests joined in lighting the third candle while showing their support for our newly wounded Israeli warriors of Operation Protective Edge. Special thanks to the Itzkowitchs for hosting and bringing their friends.<\/p>\n
The series closed on December 19 with a meeting at The Riviera Parliament, chaired by Amnon Gershoni. Special thanks to Yoram Adar who helped to bring together over 100 attendees. At this Parliament gathering, Micha Koubi delivered his remarks in Hebrew, and held an extensive Q & A with the audience. It was a fitting cap to a very successful week of acknowledging our disabled heroes and the important work at Beit Halochem. Guests learned how FIDV is crucial to raising monies to fund rehabilitation programs, specialized equipment, scholarships, family activities, educational classes, arts programming, and more.<\/p>\n
We are so grateful to each person who attended, to our hosts, to Micha Koubi, and to new friends who care about Israel\u2019s disabled veterans. With your support we can help ensure they will have access to everything they will need to recover, rebuild, and regain their lives.<\/p>\n
