A Home To Return To
Elai Botner and the Outside Kids together with Zahal Disabled Veterans
With Yom Hazikaron and Yom Ha’atzmaut fast approaching,
Elai Botner and the Outside Kids released a new musical single
Together with Zahal Disabled Veterans from all of Israel’s wars.
The song was written and composed by Elai after he met and talked with Zahal Disabled Veterans,
Men and women, young and old,
And was deeply moved by their personal stories of inspiration, of pain, and of hope.
“In the nights, I run away
To memories, to stories I don’t forget
And it burns and it hurts
Only God knows now”
The music video was filmed at the Beit Halochem centers situated across Israel
the homes where Zahal Disabled Veterans come for their physical and emotional rehabilitation
after their injuries.
The video was directed by Yaniv Tzadok who, since October 7th, has been the creative voice
responsible for some of the most influential videos and songs of the Swords of Iron war
“And there is guilt and questions
How they die
And only I live on”
Since the war began, many songs were released that draw inspiration from and deal with the
difficult situation we find ourselves in.
Now, for the first time, a song is dedicated to the wounded veterans of Zahal; sounding their
voice and showcasing their struggles, physical and mental; giving us a glimpse into the
burdens, the obstacles, and the drive to carry on.
“Outside normal, inside different
How much pain and anxiety the heart remembers
And like the endless sea
I, too, am still searching for the shore”
ZDVO Chairperson Adv. Edan Kleiman:
“The song A Home To Return To is our way of cherishing the
Brave spirits of Zahal’s Disabled Veterans
And give word to their rehabilitation and heroism.
Elai Botner’s song and its moving music video truly express
Our Veteran’s stories – stories filled with courage and determination.
Despite the immense complexities, despite all the hardships,
We move onwards to victory.”
