Swords of iron stories

The story of Gilad Charolnikov

  • The story of Gilad Charolnikov

Gilad Charolnikov is 40 years old, father of four. They live in Beer Sheva.  At the time of his injuries he was a Police officer, with the biker unit of YSM Negev.

On Saturday, October 7, Gilad, and his comrades reached the entrance of Re’im.  They battled the terrorists. Gilad was wounded in his right hand and left foot, but he did not realize this until later. He lost friends in Re’im, and many were wounded. They were unable to enter the actual kibbutz. Eventually the IDF came to save them.

I have been a Police officer in my unit for over 12 years and I have never seen anything so crazy.

We arrived at Beit Halochem for the first time, and we were warmly welcomed. I stepped in and they took me by the hand and helped me. This is the first time I have heard about Beit Halochem. I am confident it has everything I will need to recover physically and mentally. Right now, the physical rehabilitation is helping. The psychological will come later. Two of my comrades were killed. One is kidnapped and still held hostage.
